Yoga Teacher: Steven Scutt

Steven Scutt
RYT-200, RYT-500 (candidate)

With a background as a competitive and disciplined distance runner, cyclist and triathlete, Steven decided to give yoga a try in 2009. A friend encouraged him to do so knowing he was seeking balance between a demanding corporate career, life and his competitive drive. Steven quickly discovered through asana he could find pause and a glimpse into a calm space.

In 2010, with a desire to deepen his yoga practice, Steven completed his initial 200hr teacher training with Hilaire Lockwood at Hilltop Yoga. He found he enjoyed sharing yoga through teaching. After training Steven went on to teach at Hilltop Yoga and The Michigan Athletic Club (where he is also a current certified Spin instructor.)

Most recently, Steven completed advanced 300hr teacher training with Lisa Holzer at Alchemy Studio to be certified as a RYT-500 yoga teacher.
Steven has grown in his personal practice and attributes his time on the mat to his passion for the structure of yoga. A naturally active person, Steven has found yoga to be an essential and effective practice that allows him to find calm space in his life.

Steven lives in East Lansing, MI. He has a career with a software development company and teaches at Alchemy Studio. On many weekends he can be found enjoying quiet time and amazing sunrises on the shore of Lake Huron.

Steven's experience, combined with his inclusive and motivational teaching style, brings a fresh perspective and dynamic direction to any room.
